January Horoscopes

I’m surrounded by the wreckage of last month’s windstorms here in northwest Washington State: Crumpled boats washed up on rocky beaches, eroded shorelines, wider creek beds revealed under the exposed roots of fallen trees. It felt appropriate to end such a year in a flurry of wind. What a potent reminder that mother Earth’s forces will create her own compost, thankyouverymuch.

If you add the numbers up from last year (2+0+1+8=11), 2018 was a Justice year. She burns, she floods. We burn, we flood. All in service of a cycle so long we cannot fathom it. Actions (or inactions) have consequences-- some that we feel now, and some that we may not feel for a long time to come.

But this new year feels like it is moving with the kinetic energy of past action. What we set rolling in the past now has its own momentum. Our collective challenge this year is in allowing that which moves forward to continue to do so without meddling with its course. (2019 is a Hanged Man year, after all.)

I offer these horoscopes with the sincere hope that they help you begin your year in service to your (and our) continued growth. Each ecosystem includes a horoscope and a set of prompts for journaling, reflection, creation, or just momentary pause and pondering.

Don’t know your ecosystem? It’s super easy to figure out using your birthdate. Follow these instructions to find out how.

May those who need these find them. May those who find them feel them. And as always: Take what you need, leave the rest.
