I had the pleasure of being part of a beautiful Winter Glamor styled shoot last month at The Leopold Crystal Ballroom here in Bellingham. It was such an honor to be counted among the many incredibly talented vendors who came together to create something truly special.
The venue is rich with crystal, brass, and jewel-toned draperies, so I wanted to make a cocktail luxe enough to fit into the lush surroundings. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle of a brand new amaro out of Vancouver, and knew that I had to make something bright and herbaceous that was both approachable and sophisticated.
Presenting the Golden Hour: Chuckanut Bay Distillery Gin, The Woods Spirit Co. Amaro, Lillet Blanc, creme de cassis, and fresh squeezed lemon juice. A lightly fruity, citrusy cocktail with an herbal kiss.
I wanted the garnish to be as pretty as the drink itself, so I used edible gold leaf to gild lemon zest crescents and perched them on my hand-hewn rosemary skewers.
The result was pretty magical, with little flecks of gold speckling the rim of the glass or surface of the drink depending on how it was arranged.
If you're planning a special event in Northwest Washington or beyond, you can't go wrong with any of the fantastic vendors who made this shoot possible:
